We read the Bible to gain knowledge and study to begin to have understanding. As we read the Bible, please understand you are not reading alone. The first (and greatest) “resource” I want to share is The Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is The Teacher and He wants to show you the relevant things that will enhance your life as you read His Holy Word.
Since it is God’s Living Word, the Holy Spirit speaks to US as we engage in Scripture…it’s a two way conversation as we read…and this is the beginning of how we study the Bible. So always have a pen and paper handy as you read. Whatever “jumps out at you,” you should underline or write down in a notebook, so you can go back and study those words, phrases or verses, as well as the context of them. Tomorrow, I will start to share other resources available to help you do just that.
