Did September 11, 2001 Make a Difference?

I am going to take a break today from our current topic and reemphasis what I said yesterday in light of the significance of this day. 20 years ago, this country experienced a heart wrenching event that should have changed the USA forever, for good. While initially church pews were full of seekers, desperately reaching out to God, our only Hope, much too quickly, things went back to status quo…which was NOT a good thing in the first place. We seem to only show compassion towards one another when tragedy strikes…but what about the rest of the year? People still have problems that need solutions, heartbreaks that need comforting, challenges that need encouragement.

September 11, 2001 should have changed things, but has it? Since then, look at the continued division and destruction in this “land of the brave and home of the free.” This is not because of any particular political party. This has very little to do with the color of our skin. And this is even not about whether we are free to get a jab or not. This is, and always has been, the agenda of our true enemy, Satan himself. Divide and conquer! He seems to be the only one who understands how quickly we fall when we try to place everyone in a separate box and label them as this or that. And Church, he is laughing at us, especially, as we tear ourselves apart!

Again, I say, Church we are supposed to be different. We are never better than anyone else, because apart from Christ, we are all just a decision away from disaster. But we are certainly supposed to be different than this fallen world. And the only way we can be a light in this darkness, is by being different than who we used to be. This requires growing in Christ. If the Church remains immature, or worse, doesn’t want to follow God’s Way, then what can we expect from the rest of the world? The Church has failed her mission, to point to God and The Way of living in Faith. The Truth that Jesus is our only Hope. And The Life that we were always meant to live, in union with the Holy Spirit. Church, I have said this before and I will continue to say it until we start a real and powerful revival, we need to wake up and rise up. If those who are called by His Name refuse to follow God, then we will be heading for even darker times. Do we need to be sent into exile like the Israelites, my Friends? Only our actions going forth, individually and more importantly united as ONE Church under God, will answer that question…
