Reducing Inflammation to Reduce Medication

Problem: chronic and systemic inflammation and the illnesses that result from this condition. Inflammation is a root cause of so many of the illnesses that are plaguing too many people these days, illnesses like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis, allergies, respiratory issues like COPD or asthma.

Find and fix: Lose some weight. Sadly, we live in a society where obesity levels are skyrocketing. One of the causes and symptoms of inflammation is being overweight….it can be both. Not being in a healthy weight can cause inflammation, and then having systemic inflammation can cause further obesity…it becomes a never ending cycle! So when we lose weight, we also reduce the amount of inflammation in our bodies, as well as improve, and many times cure, any chronic illness we have too.

Again, I point us to our nutrition here. Anti-inflammatory foods should dominate every meal we eat. Foods that are nutrient dense foods, high in anti-oxidants, have healthy fats and are rich in fiber are what we want to take in. Here’s a quick list of the foods we must eat: fatty fish, berries, vegetables especially leafy greens like kale and spinach, cruciferous veggies like broccoli and cauliflower, beans, nuts, seeds, and olives and olive oil without limit. It is also recommended that we eat raw or lightly cooked vegetables, so we can get in all that healthy fiber that our Microbiome loves.

So the more anti-inflammatory foods we eat, the more we can lose weight, and then we won’t need those medications for any of the illnesses that could result from this chronic and systemic inflammation.
